This basic step by step guide outlines the ISAN applications process for single works (i.e. non-episodic such as feature films, ...). ISAN applications for episodic content (series, seasons, episodes) are not covered by this article, for guidance on this topic refer to ISAN creation: episodic works.
1. Preliminary search
To start, open the menu New ISAN and select Single Work
A short wizard helps to confirm the registration for:
1. a finished work 2. a single work
At this point, it is recommended to perform a preliminary search, to check whether the ISAN already exists for the work.
2. Fill the application form
If the work could not be found in the ISAN registry click on New Single Work to open the registration form.
Fill in the work information as defined in the ISAN registration best practices. For a proper identification of the work, provide as much information as available.
If the work is a segment of a single work (e.g. telefilm in parts) or a sequel:
By doing so you will improve the identification of the work! |
Add any other relevant information that is useful for the proper identification of the work in the free text field Complementary Information. For example, indicate if a Feature Film has been made from a short (notably if the titles and the cast are unchanged).
Complementary information field shall never contain information for which a dedicated ISAN field exist, doing so would result in poor identification.
click Preview to submit the form for your review before ISAN allocation.
To submit the application form, click on Allocate ISAN
