ISAN data is structured in the ISAN System according to ISAN schema 3.0.
For understanding the structure of ISAN schema 3.0 refer to Records, Relations and Hierarchies in the ISAN Registry
For details on data fields and controlled vocabularies refer to the XML ISAN Schema 3.0:
- ISAN data types definition: isan-data.xsd
- ISAN types definition: isan.xsd
- Closed lists of authorized values for ISAN schema v3.0: values.xsd
- XML example : api3.0_response_samples.xml
A detailed description of each field of the Schema 3.0,can be found in Instructions to bulk load excel form (isan3.0)
Migration from ISAN schema 2.1 to ISAN schema 3.0
ISAN schema 3.0 differs significantly from ISAN schema 2.1. Major differences are the following:
- Series in v3.0 have an extended dataset:
- Serial Headers in v2.1 have been replaced by a Series record (with a full dataset) in v3.0
- A Group record has been added to v3.0. Groups are used to identify groups of episodes as for example seasons in fictional series or thematics in documentary series.
- Versions have been redesigned in v3.0
- Existing controlled vocabularies have been extended and code values have changed
- Existing data fields have been renamed for more consistency
