After having selected an ISAN Registration Agency, and prior applying for an ISAN, applicants need to create an account with one of the appointed ISAN registration agency.
There are two different kinds of ISAN users accounts.
- Registered Readers
A registered reader is able to make detailed queries only. They can make two kinds of queries:
- By providing an ISAN the Reader accesses descriptive information about the work.
- By providing some or all of the descriptive information, the Reader is offered the corresponding ISAN for the work concerned.
- ISAN Registrants
An ISAN registrant is able to apply for the allocation of an ISAN to works or versions. In addition, the registrant can perform the same queries as a Registered Reader.
Account creation
To apply for an account with an ISAN registration agency, download and return the application form available on the web site of the Registration Agency of your choice (refer to the list of agencies with contact details).
Once registered with an ISAN registration Agency, users receive their personal credentials to the ISAN registry, enabling them to register with ISAN whenever they need an identifier.
